■US Consulate Visa Information Session
NAIST invited Vice Consul Nicholas Fietzer and Visa Outreach Coordinator Tomoko Takatori to give a US visa information session titled "American Visas for Researchers and Students" to our faculty and staff on January 16, 2013. Visas and their application process differ with the purpose and length of stay in the US, but this session focused on the F-1 (student) and J-1 (exchange visitor) visas, which are the most commonly used visas for our researchers and students. The Vice Consul and the Visa Outreach Coordinator gave a thorough and clear explanation of the visa system, which is based on very complex US immigration law, and answered questions the faculty and staff had concerning visa application. We appreciate their visiting NAIST and their session was very helpful in further understanding what is necessary and what takes place in the visa process for researchers and students.
