Macquarie University (Australia) Delegation Visit

Representatives from Macquarie University, Professor Michelle Leishman (Head, Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science and Engineering), Professor Subhas Mukhopadhyay (Mechanical / Electronics Engineering, Department of Engineering, Faculty of Science and Engineering) and Ms. Yoko Kaitani (Country Manager, International (Pacific), Macquarie International), visited NAIST on May 16, 2017.

Sachi Ando (DGE Director) and Junko Iwatsuki (DGE International Activities Coordinator) welcomed the group and gave an introduction NAIST’s education and research activities, and discussed possible student/faculty exchange in various areas of research and education.
Following this, the representatives visited the Graduate School of Information Science labs; Robotics (Prof. Tsukasa Ogasawara), Intelligent System Control (Prof. Kenji Sugimoto), Mathematical Informatics (Prof. Kazushi Ikeda), Cyber Resilience (Prof. Youki Kadobayashi), the Graduate School of Biological Sciences labs; Systems Biology (Prof. Hirotada Mori), Molecular Immunobiology (Prof. Taro Kawai) and Computational Biology (Assoc. Prof. Yuichi Sakumura), and were able to exchange and discuss ideas on their research, as well as the possibility of future undergraduate student internships.

Macquarie University and NAIST have a growing academic relationship and in 2016FY NAIST’s International Staff Development Program was held in Macquarie University, where our staff participated in training, including job shadowing to experience different approaches in higher education administration. We look forward to expanding our relationship in the years to come.
