On December 14th, 2009, NAIST held its inaugural International Exchange Day to encourage active promotion of international exchange and to inform domestic and overseas institutions of our activities.
  • Conferment of Honorary Doctoral Degree from Nara Institute of Science and Technology, followed by a commemorative lecture by Professor Raymond L. Rodriguez
NAIST conferred its inaugural Honorary Doctoral Degree to Professor Raymond L. Rodriguez of the University of California at Davis, in recognition of his great contribution to NAIST. Following the conferment, Professor Rodriguez delivered a commemorative lecture to NAIST faculty, staff and students.
  • International Exchange with Consulate Officials
NAIST invited consular officials to its inaugural International Exchange Day, because NAIST regards collaboration with foreign governments as integral to its international cooperation and exchange. As a result, 22 consular officials from 12 countries attended and participated in laboratory tours of the graduate schools of Information Science, Biological Sciences, and Materials Science. After the laboratory tours, a tea party and reception were also held, offering consular officials an opportunity to talk with students from their respective countries.
