On July 8, 2013, the Center for International Relations held the first Global Campus Event - "PechaKucha* Tea Time", and over 60 attendees joined the event. The event is aimed at building on-campus community and fostering increased mutual understanding and familiarity among NAIST's diverse population of students, faculty and staff. The event started with students from Vietnam introducing the history of Vietnamese coffee in a mock café setting with nostalgic Vietnamese music. The waiter demonstrated how to make a drip coffee in standard Vietnamese coffee cups. After the demonstration, the coffee was provided to all audience members. Next, PechaKucha presentations on the theme "My Road to NAIST" were presented by the following three presenters:

・Shoji Komai (Japan), Associate Professor, Biological Sciences
・Elga Laura Strafella (Italy), Visiting Researcher, Information Science
・Olivier Galangau (France), Visiting Researcher, Materials Science

The event was a great successful and the next event will be held in autumn of this year. *PechaKucha is a short, lively presentation format (20 seconds/slide x 20 slides=6 minutes and 40 seconds) that was invented in Tokyo in 2003 and is now popular all over the world.
