NAIST Participated in Study in Japan Virtual Fair 2020 hosted by JASSO (2020/12/13)

On Sunday, December 13, 2020, NAIST participated in "Study in Japan Virtual Fair 2020" hosted by JASSO sponsored by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).
Every year, NAIST participates in the JASSO Study in Japan Fairs held abroad and visits its overseas partner institutions in order to recruit outstanding international students and raise NAIST's international recognition. This fiscal year, however, it was decided to hold these events online because holding events locally is difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and NAIST chose to participate in this new format. At the fair, NAIST faculty members and students introduced NAIST to participants from eight Asian countries and regions (Indonesia, Korea, China, China (Hong Kong), Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Taiwan) through live broadcasts.

Beginning the session, Dr. Masako Shimamoto, Division for Global Education's global engagement officer, gave an overview of NAIST and was followed by three faculty members, Associate Professor Mohammed Altaf Amin (Division of Information Science), Professor Naoyuki Inagaki (Division of Biological Science), and Professor Hiroharu Ajiro (Division of Materials Science), who explained each division's research areas. The session ended with an introduction of campus life from three NAIST international students (Ms. Supatsara Wattanakriengkrai (M2), Mr. Jonathan Lim Jun Yong (D2) and Ms. Liliany Noviyanty Pamasi (D3)) to give participants an image of NAIST's appeal.

In the question-and-answer times throughout the session, students asked questions about NAIST's research fields and educational programs, international exchange programs, as well as research life and campus life after admission in real time using chat functions. NAIST's faculty, staff and students were able to enjoy interacting with the participating students who were interested in NAIST through live streaming.

Approximately 30 participants visited NAIST's session, which ended as a great success.
