French Embassy Delegation Visit to NAIST (April 12, 2022)

Prof. Didier Marty-Dessus, Counsellor for Science and Technology of the Embassy of France in Tokyo visited NAIST on April 12, 2022. NAIST President Dr. Kazuhiro Shiozaki, Prof. Jun Ohta, (Executive Director/Vice President), Prof. Tsuyoshi Kawai (Director of the Division of Materials Science), Prof. Gwenael Rapenne (Biomimetic and Technomimetic Molecular Science Laboratory) and Dr. Masako Shimamoto (Global Engagement Officer) welcomed the delegation.

After greetings from President Shiozaki, Dr. Shimamoto gave introductions of NAIST's research and education activities. President Shiozaki discussed various topics with the delegation such as the possibility of future internships between French companies and NAIST and the further promotion of double degree programs. The French delegation also invited NAIST to participate in a symposium on artificial intelligence (AI), which they are planning to hold in cooperation with Japanese organizations.

After the courtesy visit, the delegation visited the Division of Materials Science and had a lively discussion with Prof. Kawai, Prof. Rapenne, Prof. Yukiharu Uraoka (Information Device Science Laboratory), and Prof. Takayuki Yanagida (Applied Quantum Physics Laboratory) about academic and scientific exchange with French institutions.

We expect that this visit will further strengthen our educational and research network connecting France and NAIST.
