Internationalization efforts are focused on raising NAIST’s global profile and enhancing the international environment within the university. Exchange agreements with 62 overseas institutions enable NAIST to send and receive numerous researchers and students globally each year. The university invites students from other institutions to take part in a wide variety of events, internships, research experiences, and summer camps. The International Staff Development program invites specialists from overseas and sends faculty and staff abroad for training to foster continual educational improvement. In 2009, the Center for International Relations was established to coordinate these international initiatives in a strategic manner.
