2. Campus Life

2.1 Commuting

2.1.1 Local Transportation
You can find various modes of transportation such as train, bus, bicycle, motorcycle and car. If you are commuting to NAIST by bus or train, a commuting pass or a bus card is useful (see 2.1.2). There is an adjacent parking lot to the campus where you can park your automobile, bicycle or motorcycle.

Access to NAIST

2.1.2 Purchasing Passes
If you use public transportation for commuting, we recommend you to buy a pass. It is discounted by period such as 1 month, 3 months and 6 months. You can purchase a student pass if you are a full time student. If you are a non-regular student or a researcher, you are only allowed to purchase the commuting pass.
To purchase a pass, you fill out an application form at the pass sales counter at station. When purchasing a student pass, present the student ID and the student pass certificate. For buses, you can also use a bus card and / or coupon ticket instead of a pass. A pass sales counter is in Gakuen-mae and Takanohara Station: (Open hours: 7:00-20:00)
