Admission Requirements
- Those who have graduated (or will graduate by March 31, 2007) from a Japanese university.
- Those who have been given (or will be given by March 31, 2007) a bachelor's degree from the National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation.
- Those who have completed (or will complete by March 31, 2007) 16 years of formal education in a foreign country.
- Those who have completed (or will complete by March 31, 2007) 16 years of formal education of a foreign country by taking a foreign university's correspondence course in Japan.
- Those who have completed (or will complete by March 31, 2007) their course at a foreign educational institute in Japan, which is authorized by the educational system of the foreign country and specified separately by the Minister of MEXT.(Applicants in this category must complete 16 years of formal education in the foreign country.)
- Those who have completed (or will complete by March 31, 2007) their course at a Japanese vocational school after the date designated by the Minister of MEXT.(The school in this category must fulfill requirements designated by the Minister of MEXT as well as the couse of study must cover 4 years or more.)
- Those who have been designated (or will be designated by March 31, 2007) by the Minister of Education (as described in Ministry of Education Directive No. 5, 1953).
- Those who have studied at a Japanese university for 3 or more years, or who will complete 15 years of formal education in a foreign country as of March 31, 2007, are required to have achieved outstanding results in the designated credits (see Note 2).
- Those who are recognized by NAIST through Preliminary Examination of Suitability to have academic ability equivalent to a university graduate, and who will be 22 years of age by March 31, 2007.

Selection Methods |

- Selection methods
20-minute interview of questions related with materials science
of student's major and written examination of English. In addition, international students are
tested on their level of Japanese proficiency to determine whether
they are able to follow lessons conducted in Japanese.
- Evaluation criteria
Overall evaluation of basic fundamentals, motivations for research
and potential research ability.
- Admission criteria
Overall evaluation of an interview, written examination of English, transcript of academic record
and other required documents. However, examinee whose English
proficiency falls below a satisfactory standard cannot be admitted
unless they show excellence in other subjects.
