Senior Advisor of Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan visit to NAIST (July 9, 2021)

 Dr. Yu-Han Tsou, Senior Advisor of Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan visited NAIST on July 9, 2021. Prof. Jun Ohta, (Executive Director/Vice President), Prof. Yoichiroh Hosokawa (Professor, Division of Materials Science) and Dr. Masako Shimamoto (Global Engagement Officer) welcomed her with a brief introduction of NAIST. Then, following an introduction of current science and technology research trends in Taiwan by Dr. Tsou, they exchanged information about promoting research programs and collaboration.

 After the courtesy visit, the group toured the campus, including a viewing of the shared facilities and equipment with explanations from our technical specialists, and Dr. Tsou was impressed by NAIST's well-equipped facilities and outstanding research environments which easily accessed by students. At Prof. Jun Ohta's Photonic Device Science Laboratory in the Division of Materials Science, Mr. Tso Kuang-Chih, a Taiwanese double degree student from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, introduced his research at the Laboratory and received encouragement from Dr. Tsou. Afterwards, Prof. Ko Kato and Associate Prof. Minoru Kubo explained the Center for Digital Green-innovation established January 2021.

 NAIST and universities in Taiwan have been conducting close research and education collaboration including the launching of a double-degree program. This visit confirmed the common initiative to further expand the education and research exchange between NAIST and Taiwanese researchers.
