NAIST aims to develop world-class professionals who will help push forward the boundaries of science and technology in our 3 core fields of advanced science and technology, information science and engineering, biosciences, and materials science and engineering, as well as in their interdisciplinary fields.

We welcome both students with a high level of basic academic skills and researchers and engineers active in society who have clear goals and aspirations for the future and a strong interest and motivation in advanced scientific and technological fields, from Japan and abroad. The NAIST master’s course offers a highly flexible and integrated educational program and the doctoral course offers a program that focuses on students’ internationality, independence, and student self-reliance.

The Institute for Educational Initiatives (IEI) was established in 2015 to strengthen the organizational structure related to the promotion of education at NAIST, including curriculum development and implementation, education evaluations, career support, and international educational collaboration.

The four divisions of IEI, Division for Educational Development, Division for Innovation Education, Division for Career Development and Division for Global Education, will continue to work together to promote education based on the NAIST's core principles and policies, while collaborating with internal and external organizations.
