Initiatives

Creation of open-innovation platforms

By making effective use of NAIST’s facilities, equipment, and instruments, we support the creation of venues—both on-site and online—where cutting-edge knowledge in the world-class fields of Information Science, Bioscience, Materials Science, and their convergent/interdisciplinary areas meets government agencies, companies, financial institutions, venture capital firms, and other actors driving innovation. These efforts lead to the launch and expansion of challenge-driven collaborative research and joint research laboratories.

Support for the Creation of Systematic, Comprehensive, Large-Scale Industry-Academia Collaboration

We aim to expand from seed-driven, "individual, short-term" industry-academia collaborative research to needs-driven, "vision-sharing," "contribution to solving regional and global issues," and "backcasting" collaborative efforts. In close collaboration with the Research Promotion Division and other university-wide organizations, we aim to work with stakeholders to strengthen world-leading research capabilities and create a virtuous cycle of innovation through the planning and flexible agile approach of new on-campus and off-campus collaborations.

Supporting the Social Deployment of the ARWIT System

In collaboration with J-PEAKS participating institutions both in Japan and overseas, NAIST will play a part in the "ARWIT Promotion Center (scheduled for establishment in January 2026)" for the "Autonomous Research Enhancement and Social Implementation System" (ARWIT), which NAIST is proposing with an eye to the future 10 years from now. We will contribute to the social deployment of a secure, open and closed next-generation research and social implementation system.

NAIST-ARWIT System: (ARWIT: Automated Research Workflow and Industrial Translation) — a layered research-automation and societal-implementation system integrating Bioscience, Materials Science, and Information Science.

Support for the creation of NAIST-certified startups and the expansion of collaboration

We will expand the potential of startups both on and off campus as a means of implementing NAIST research results and "NAISTech (NAIST technology)" in society.

Other matters related to the creation of co-creation innovation

While expanding support for existing co-creation collaboration frameworks and consortiums, we will promote the development, expansion, and utilization of systems and environments that will strengthen NAIST's research and management capabilities.
