Vision and Purpose
「The Division of Co-creative Innovation, under the NAIST President’s Vision 2030, aims to expand the co-creation with society, pioneering the future through cutting-edge science and technology and cross-boundary collaboration, and generate innovations that drive societal transformation by leveraging NAIST’s full research resources. Centered on NAIST as a hub, the division leads strategic planning and provides hands-on support to cultivate open-innovation opportunities, promote comprehensive collaboration among industry, government, and academia, and foster the creation of new industries and startups.
Background to the Establishment
In fiscal year 2024, NAIST was designated under the Program for Forming Japan’s Peak Research Universities (J-PEAKS). J-PEAKS is a project of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) established to revitalize Japan's research capabilities. It supports efforts to build the necessary environment to accelerate and enhance the international expansion and social implementation of research activities though strategic management centered on institutional strengths and distinctive research capabilities. In line with this program, NAIST established the "Division of Co-creative Innovation" in October 2025 as part of "President's Vision 4: Institutional management reforms to build a nurturing environment for co-creation"
