We have rented the lab again for this meeting. Continuing from the previous meeting, the main topics of discussion were the university's regulations and labor-management agreements related to the childcare leave system. The outcome of the discussion this time was that we were able to discuss how the university can support the management of the lab during the staff's leave, in terms of maintaining a research environment that allows staff to take childcare leave at any time, from the perspective of the host professor or associate professor of the lab. A suggestion was made to assign a researcher who could take over until the staff member goes on maternity leave, but there is a gap in the number of staff assigned to the lab in the first place. We hope to continue the discussion. December 2019 Lunch Meeting

Tuesday, October 29, 2019

We held our first lunch meeting in almost a year and a half. The Gender Equality Office has been sharing a floor with other sections since April 2018, and since we lost our meeting space, we have not been able to hold lunch meetings for a long time. However, thanks to Professor Michiko Inoue of the Information Area, who kindly provided us with her seminar room, we were able to hold this meeting after a long absence.
This time, Professor Ai Muto of the Center for the Creation of Data-Driven Science gave a talk entitled "Proposals for Young Faculty Members' Life Plans," in which she discussed issues related to the childcare system and university regulations. As junior faculty move into the tenure system, the current system does not allow researchers of childbearing age to take parental leave. It was a productive time discussing medium and long-term issues, and "what our university can do now."

October 2019 Lunch Meeting

Tuesday, March 13, 2018

The last lunch meeting of the academic year was held. This time, we had several members who are retiring at the end of March, so we also had a farewell party, and so many people showed up that we could not fill all the chairs. We had a friendly time looking back on the efforts of the Gender Equality Office since its inception, and enjoyed a cake brought by the office manager.

Thursday, July 6, 2017

The third lunch meeting of the year took place. As in the previous meeting, a member of the Kansai Gakkentoshi Organization joined us for an interview with the PR magazine, and we had a friendly and sometimes somber discussion with the teachers who attended the meeting about the support system of our university and the difficulties of balancing work and school during the time between entrance exams. The date of the next meeting has not yet been set.

Tuesday, June 6, 2017

The second lunch meeting of the academic year was held. Although it was a little sad that no professors from the graduate schools attended this time, each group talked about the situation of lactation rooms in overseas universities, etc. The next meeting will not be on the usual Tuesday. The next meeting will be on Thursday, July 6, 12:30-13:30 instead of the usual Tuesday. Feel free to come and go as you please.

Tuesday, May 9, 2017

The first lunch meeting of the year was held. Many people from different graduate schools and departments came together to share their parenting experiences, as well as talk about creating a work environment that allows people to bring their children to the university when it is unavoidable due to temporary school closures, etc. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 6. Please join us.

May 2017 Lunch Meeting

Tuesday, February 7, 2017

We held our 11th Lunch Meeting of the year. We were happy to see so many people at this meeting. Two of our teachers had given birth last year, so our members who had finished raising their babies talked about the difficulties they faced and the need to establish a childcare center on campus. We also heard from the office manager who took time off on the children's visitation days and was very busy visiting classrooms for several grades. Please join us for our next meeting on Tuesday, March 7th.

Tuesday, January 10, 2017

We had our 10th lunch meeting of the year. This time we talked about milking on campus. Since last year, the university has set up a temporary lounge in the Graduate School building for pregnant and parenting teachers, but there are some challenges, such as the lack of a clean refrigerator. We have discussed with the teachers concerned what can be done to address these issues. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 7th. We look forward to your attendance.

Tuesday, December 6, 2016

We held our 9th Lunch Meeting this year. Once again, we had many participants from different departments and graduate schools. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 6. We look forward to seeing you there.

We talked about the admission of international students, the status of English and Japanese teaching in the lab, alumni activities, and so on. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 1. We have several men at each meeting, so please come and join us.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 2. We look forward to seeing you there.

Tuesday, June 7, 2016

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 5, and we look forward to seeing you all there.

The second lunch meeting of the year was held. The teacher gave us delicious cookies and chocolates from Scandinavia as a real souvenir, so everyone could enjoy tea time together. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 7th. We look forward to seeing you there.

Tuesday, April 5, 2016

The first lunch meeting of the school year was held. With many new professors joining us, we opened the meeting with introductions. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 10. We are looking forward to your participation.

August 2014 Lunch Meeting

Thursday, April 10, 2014

This time, we gathered faculty and researchers from the Center for the Advancement of Advanced Science and Technology and the Career Support Office, as well as from three graduate schools. As we talked, we actually connected with each other. We were surprised and laughed about various topics ranging from research to daily life. There are many things we don't know about each other, such as what kind of research each other is doing and what the situation is like, so we hope to continue to have horizontal connections with each other in the future. Lunch meetings are a great way to get started. We hope you will join us.
