Welcome and farewell party

We held a party inside our lab for members dramatically turning over; Xin and Ziqiang joined as new members, Chenyu admitted as a regular student, Jie has just graduated his master's course and Sofiane and Yujiang is finishing his internship soon.

Arrival of Ziqiang and Xin

An internship student Ziqiang has arrived from Ocean University of China. Xin, another student arrived the day before, and other students went to a soba restaurant together.

Master thesis presentation

Jie made a thesis presentation about his unique method for person re-identification.

Fan's Award Ceremony for NAIST Top Scholarship Program

Fan is awarded at NAIST Top Scholarship Program for his excellent academic achievements. He also gave a presentation to express which problem to tackle in his Ph.D. study.

We had sushi together to say farewell to Pablo leaving NAIST, in conjunction with late welcome of new members.

Visit of Prof. Bruce Thomas

Prof. Bruce Thomas from University of South Australia visited our lab.

Open Campus

We introduced our lab to potential students at open campus. We took a room in the Information Science Complex instead of our lab in IFRC1, which resulted in more visitors than before.

Website Revamped

On the verge of the open campus, our new website with modern and mobile-friendly design has been released.

Machi Shimmei and Sofiane Horache joined our lab

A new M1 student Machi is assigned to our lab. At the same time, Sofiane arrived from Télécom ParisTech and staying until October.

Lunch at Italian for HANDS2017 Challenge award

The team members who won HANDS2017 Challenge at ICCV workshop last year enjoyed lunch with the prize money.

Visit of Prof. Jeffrey Cohn

Prof. Cohn is visiting us from CMU through this week. In his visit, he is giving a talk about facial analysis and affective computing, as well as taking part in our research discussion.

Award ceremony of CICP2017

Kai's group received the award of CICP2017, which is a competitive student project of NAIST. The unique idea that hand actions are recognized using ToF cameras placed around the wrist like a bracelet was evaluated.

Master thesis presentation

Fan made a thesis presentation about the hand tracking algorithm awarded in the competition last year. He is going to proceed to doctoral course.
