Message from the Director of the Division for Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration

The Division for Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration, Institute for Research Initiatives was reorganized from the Center for Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration on April 1, 2015. The purpose of this reorganization was to promote research from upstream to downstream through integrated management with the Division for Research Strategy.

We have engaged in the active promotion of collaborative research, commissioned research, technology transfer and other related activities. As a result, NAIST has achieved top results nationwide. We received the highest evaluation for the MEXT-sponsored "Development of University Intellectual Property Headquarters Project (2003-2007)", and also the highest midterm evaluation for the "Innovation System Improvement Project (2008-2012)".

In 2011, NAIST received "Intellectual Property Achievement Awards" from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Japan Patent Office (JPO) for our contribution to the development of the industrial property rights system through our activities.

In addition, we were also involved in the MEXT-sponsored "Enhancing Development of Global Entrepreneur Program" (FY2014-FY2016) and "Exploration and Development of Global Entrepreneurship for NEXT generation" (FY2017-FY2020), to promote the development of new business.

NAIST will continue striving to produce world-leading education and research results, and to further promote industry-government-academia collaboration.
