On Friday, July 24, a delegation from SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), led by Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan (Vice Chancellor) visited NAIST. During the courtesy visit, the delegation was welcomed by Dr. Kato Hirokazu (Executive Director/Vice President), Dr. Ohta Jun (Executive Director/Vice President), Dr. Maki Hisaji (Deputy Director, Strategic Initiative for Global Leadership Development), Prof. Ikeda Kazushi (Division of Information Science), Prof. Bessho Yasumasa (Division of Biological Science), Prof. Hirota Shun (Division of Materials Science) and Dr. LU Yen Ting (URA, Strategic Initiative for Global Leadership Development).
The visit began with welcome remarks from Dr. Kato. Referring to the acceptance of students from SRMIST under the newly established double-degree program, Dr. Kato expressed hope that this initiative would further strengthen student exchange and promote broader academic collaboration across various fields.
Following this, Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan introduced the distinctive features and strengths of SRMIST, which has produced many graduates who have gone on to play leading roles in academia. In addition to enhancing student mobility, Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation into new areas and expressed a desire to deepen research collaboration, including the development of joint research projects between the two institutions.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to deepen mutual understanding between the two institutions and further advance bilateral exchanges, particularly in the areas of student mobility and research collaboration. It is expected that the partnership between the institutions will continue to grow and develop in the years ahead.
