Director of Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission visited NAIST (July 18, 2014)

On Friday, July 18th, NAIST received visitors including Director Gilles Bloch, Director Eric Qemeneur, and Assistant Director Renaud Blaise from the Life Science Division (DSV) of the Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in France. The delegation was also accompanied by Counselor Christophe Xerri from the French Embassy in Tokyo.

The purpose of the visit was to introduce the CEA and its activities, discuss future possibilities for collaboration, and learn about the research conducted in the Graduate School of Biological Sciences (GSBS).

After an official visit with Executive Director Mikio Kataoka and Director of the Center for International Relations Steven Nishida, Director Bloch introduced the DSV and its mission. Afterwards, the Vice Dean Takashi Hashimoto introduced the laboratories and research of GSBS. Finally, Associate Director Kozo Kubo of the Division for Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration introduced the Center and its activities.

Next, the group visited GSBS, and professors Taku Demura and Masaaki Umeda explained their laboratories and research.

This occasion was a beneficial opportunity for both sides to exchange information and ideas on future collaboration possibilities.
