Presidential Delegation from Bern University of Applied Sciences, Switzerland visit to NAIST (May 10, 2019)

A Presidential Delegation led by Dr. Herbert Binggeli (President, Bern University of Applied Sciences) visited NAIST on May 10th, 2019. Their visit to Nara Prefecture was to explore and gain insight into this area's social and technological challenges facing the aging society along with the partnership between Bern, Switzerland and Nara, Japan.

Dr. Naokazu Yokoya (President), Prof. Toshio Hakoshima (Vice President and Executive Director), Mr. Goro Watanabe (Director General and Executive Director), Prof. Tsukasa Ogasawara, (Vice President and Dean of Graduate School of Science and Technology), Prof. Shun Hirota (Advisor to the President) and Dr. Masako Shimamoto (Global Engagement Administrator) welcomed the delegation with a brief introduction of NAIST.

After the courtesy visit, the delegation visited two labs in the Division of Information Science, Ubiquitous Computing System (Prof. Yasumoto) and Robot Learning (Assoc. Prof. Matsubara) Labs, to learn more about NAIST's cutting edge research in the IoT and robot technology research fields.

This was a valuable opportunity for both the Bern University of Applied Sciences delegation and NAIST to consider future developments in education and research.
