In information science, a key technology for achieving Society 5.0 and SDGs, and in related fields, NAIST is building an environment where young researchers are able to demonstrate their capabilities, aiming to generate outstanding research outcomes that support the information infrastructure of Japan and the world and to cultivate researchers and engineers with advanced expertise.
NAIST researches at the cutting-edge of the life sciences across three fields: "Plant biology" that focuses on plants to tackle issues in life, environment, resources, and food and seeks solutions to these challenges; Medical biology" that conducts research from the basics of biological functions to applied studies that determine the causes of diseases; and "Integrated systems biology" that aims to create innovative science and technology,
NAIST deepens understanding of the mechanisms of matter at the electronic, atomic, and molecular levels, pursuing the development and creation of new materials, structures, and functions. Research emphasizing fundamentals and encouraging application is expected to contribute to the construction of new theories, the discovery of new phenomena, and the creation of new functional materials, thus helping to pioneer the future.

Data Science Center (DSC)
We deploy data-driven science across information, bio, materials, and integrated fields in a cross-sectoral manner to pioneer new interdisciplinary integrated fields.
Center for Digital Green-innovation (CDG)
We aim to create next-generation digital green science and technology, and contribute to achieving SDGs by promoting the real-world implementation of these outcomes and developing the talent to carry them forward.
Medilux Research Center (MLC)
Promoting new medical-engineering collaborative research through fusion with advanced optical technologies.
Center for ARWIT Promotion
We promote the construction of the Automated Research Workflow and Industrial Translation (ARWIT) System, as well as the effective use of research data and the development of human resources based on this system.
