NAIST delegation participated in 2023 NAIST-NYCU Joint Seminar (October 6, 2023)

 A seminar co-hosted by National Yang-Ming Jiao Tung University(NYCU)and NAIST was held at NYCU on Friday, October 6. This seminar was planned as part of activities based on the academic exchange agreement between our institutions concluded in May 2010 and to commemorate the establishment of the NAIST-NYCU International Collaborative Laboratory in May 2023.

 Seven delegation members from NAIST including Prof. Jun Ohta (Vice President for international affairs), Prof. Shun Hirota (Director of the Division of Materials Science), Prof. Yohichiroh Hosokawa (Division of Materials Science), Assoc. Prof. Sachiko Toma (Division of Materials Science), Dr. Takahito Shikano (Institute for Research Initiatives) and two International Affairs Division staff members traveled to Taiwan to attend the seminar.

 The seminar began with opening remarks by Prof. Ming-Chih Lai (Dean of the College of Science, NYCU) and nine individual seminars were held in two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. During the seminar, speakers introduced their exchange activities so far as well as their research achievements. It was closed with remarks by Prof. Ohta with a friendly atmosphere throughout the seminar.

 After this, the delegation members visited Prof. Chen-Yi Lee (Senior Vice President, NYCU), Prof. Kai-Ten Feng (Deputy Vice President for International Affairs, NYCU) to exchange opinions, and then visited Prof. Chung-Yu Wu to learn about research conducted at the Biomedical Electronics Translational Research Center (BETRC).

 During their visit to Taiwan, the NAIST delegation also visited National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) and met with faculty and staff in the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (CEECS) and the Academy of Innovative Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing (AISSM) to share information and exchange opinions with the aim of strengthening cooperation.

 To NAIST, visit to Taiwan became a good opportunity to further deepen ties with overseas partners and to gain knowledge of the trends of science and technology in Taiwan, as well as their latest research results.
