Saskatchewan Minister of Agriculture Visit to NAIST (November 13, 2017)

On November 13th, 2017, the Honorable Lyle Stewart (Minister of Agriculture), Mr. Rick Burton (Deputy Minister of Agriculture), and Ms. Ashley Anderson (Chief of Staff) of Saskatchewan, Canada, along with Mr. Chenier La Salle (Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner) and Mr. Takashi Furukawa (Trade Commissioner) of Trade Commissioner Service, Government of Canada, visited NAIST.

At the courtesy visit, President Naokazu Yokoya, Vice President / Executive Director Kiyomi Kakiuchi, Vice President / Executive Director Toshio Hakoshima, Prof. Takashi Hashimoto (Dean, Graduate School of Biological Sciences), Division for Global Education Director Sachi Ando, and Dr. Masahiro Nakano (Managing Director, NPO Kinki-Bio Industry Development Organization) welcomed the mission and exchanged information concerning possible academic-industry collaboration in fields of biological science.

Following this, the mission visited the Graduate School of Biological Sciences for a meeting with Prof. Hashimoto, Prof. Taku Demura, and Associate Prof. Ko Kato to discuss research collaboration.

The province of Saskatchewan is located in western Canada and known for its significant economy primarily associated with agriculture. We hope that this visit will spur possible international collaboration in science and technology.
