Center for International Students and Scholars

The Center for International Students and Scholars (CISS) is here to ease and enhance living, studying and working in Japan for NAIST students, scholars and their spouses and families. While the International Student Affairs and the International Affairs Sections will facilitate your studies with administrative support, CISS is here to support your daily lives with the hope that you may fully enjoy the time you spend here.
Congratulations on this next step in your life and your safe arrival to NAIST. Some new students and scholars may be well versed in Japanese culture and life in Japan, but many of you may be experiencing Japanese culture or life outside of your home country for the first time. CISS's mission is to offer counselling, translation and information services in areas such as:

  • Cultural differences
  • Student-faculty relations
  • Local information and transportation
  • Housing issues
  • Family support (schooling, medical referrals, etc.)

Please feel free to consult with us about whatever issues or questions you may have and we will try to find the best solution or introduce you to the section that can help you.

Located in the International Affairs Section (next to the International Student Affairs Section in the Administration Building 1F), the center works closely with staff throughout NAIST. You may also contact us at or at 0743-72-6240 if you have any questions or inquiries.
