2025/3/3
1. Outline
Targeting new students from 2025, we will establish "The Advanced Information Specialist Course" that adds new educational programs and industry-academia collaboration schemes to our current cutting-edge education and research activities. In addition, the number of admission capacity in the Master's Course will be increased from 350 to 390, and the number of admission capacity in the Doctoral Course will be increased from 107 to 112.
The eligible Master's Course students for "The Advanced Information Specialist Course" are as follows according to each examination category.
- All students who pass examination of information science category assigned to a laboratory in the Division of Information Science: (about 175 students)
- Some students who pass examination of information science category or biological science category assigned to the laboratory in the Division of Biological Science accredited for "The Advanced Information Specialist" (hereafter, Course-accredited Bio-laboratory): (about 15 students)
- Some students who pass examination of information science category or materials science category assigned to the laboratory in the Division of Materials Science accredited for "The Advanced Information Specialist" (hereinafter, Course-accredited Materials laboratory): (about 10 students)
Note that students wishing to enroll in "The Advanced Information Specialist Course" must select either "Information Science and Engineering Program", "Data Science Program" or Digital Green Innovation Program" after admission. The same applies to Doctoral course students.Master's course Total capacity Examination category Capacity

"The Advanced Information Specialist Course" comprises "Research Deepening Course" and "Problem Solving Course". The Research Depth Course aims to help students become internationally leading experts in their respective fields through cutting-edge research in advanced information technology. The Problem Solving Course, on the other hand, combines multiple specializations, including advanced information technology, and aims to develop students into π-type human resources who can lead the way in solving various problems facing society. After enrolment, students select one of the two courses in consultation with their supervisor.
3. Educational goals:
- Develop human resources who can use advanced information technology to solve society's problems.
- Provide comprehensive information science education that combines theory and practice.
- Develop professionals with practical skills in collaboration with industry.
4. Curriculum outline:
- Combined study programs include Information Science and Engineering, Data Science and Digital Green Innovation programs.
- Field experience through practical projects and internships.
- Joint research and study abroad opportunities with overseas universities as international exchange programs.
5. Supplementary information on the entrance examinations
Further information on each examination category (Information Science, Biological Science and Materials Science) can be found below.
6. Points concerning applications to the Information Science category
Candidates applying for the Information Science category can select 14 laboratories from the 18 Course-accredited Bio-laboratories and 4 Course-accredited Materials-laboratories in addition to the laboratories in the Division of Information Science. For example, the first choice is Course-accredited Bio-laboratory, the second choice is laboratory in the Division of Information Science, or vice versa.
In order to accommodate the above applications, the online application system includes 14 Course-accredited Bio-laboratories and 4 Course-accredited Materials-laboratories in the list of laboratories for the information science category. Candidates who have taken and passed the examination for the information science category and received an offer of assignment from Course-accredited Bio-laboratories or Course-accredited Materials-laboratories will be assigned to that laboratory by completing the area transfer procedure after enrollment.7.
