Housing options in Japan are generally entirely unfurnished. In Japan this means that the apartment, etc. is outfitted with a sink in the bathroom and the kitchen, a shower and bath unit, a toilet, and usually also some closet space. Upon arriving you will immediately need things such as a bed or futon, heating and air conditioning depending on the season, lighting, a refrigerator, a stove to cook with, a washing machine and curtains.
